Glossary

Here you’ll find our definition of terms used as well.

Host – The PR or “face” of the System. May or may not have awareness of Alters, and may or may not be able to Co-Con.

Alter/part – An identity able to assume executive control over the body. Has their own wants, needs, opinions. We use part as a preference.

Fragment – A 1D or 2D part. Not a full Alter. May fulfill a specific role or function. May be a trauma-holder

C-DID – Complex DID. Is DID with differences in splitting patterns, internal structuring, and generally more complex nuances.

Caretaker – A role designated to a headmate who cares for other headmates Internally, or Externally (such as children).

Co-Consciousness – The ability to be present while another part fronts, and can communicate Internally.

Headmate – A member of a System

Polyfragment – A label used to indicate the System has many fragments, aka C-DID

Sub-System – A system within a system.
